Hector Bank in 1916
Farmers & Merchants State Bank was built in 1916 and opened its doors August 13, 1917. Architects of the new structure were Purcell and Elmslie of Minneapolis and Chicago. F.N. Hegg of Minneapolis was the contractor. The bank President at the time was A.E. Schroeder; W.B. Strom, vice-president; S.W. Anderson, cashier; and A.B. Dahlgren, assistant cashier. The new building can easily be said to be one of the finest ever built for a bank in a place the size of Hector and surely the builders have spared nothing to make it beautiful, convenient and permanent.
